The 'Legal Aid Services of West Bengal', supervised by judges, has been working silently throughout Bengal for 44 consecutive years. This organization, founded by former Calcutta High Court judge D.K. Basu, is currently well-respected in the state legislature. First, it had an office in High Court Para, then in the Golpark area. This week, the organization opened its own office building on Hazra Road. Former judge and chairman of the State Human Rights Commission, Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya, was the chief guest at the inauguration of the building. In addition, eminent personalities like Arunabh Barua (vice chairman of the organization) and Rabindranath Samanta (chairman of RERA) who were once judges of the Calcutta High Court were present. This organization provides legal assistance to interested parties on various issues. The organization's secretary, Biplab Kumar Sarkar, said, "Along with legal assistance, we are also conducting PG counseling courses approved by the University of Calcutta." It is learned that classes have been running twice a week under the supervision of course director Satyajit Dasgupta since April 26. Here, subjects such as sociology, law, etc. are taught in detail. Samarendu Chakraborty, Chief Law Instructor (Security Training School, Kolkata Police), who has enrolled in this course, said - "The role of counseling in analyzing and curing mental illness is outstanding, "I am receiving detailed and high-quality science-based training in counseling at this institution, which I believe will be useful for the welfare of the general public and will especially enrich my future career in counseling related to the judiciary."
